The Righteous Ram

Students are physical and spiritual beings created by God in His image (Genesis 1:27, 2:7) and are of great worth in His eyes. They are sinners who need to profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Each student is unique with a preferred learning style, and each is endowed by God with varying levels of academic, physical and creative abilities. We strive to pour into our students as children of God spiritually, academically, socially, and physically.

Who We Are

At ECA, our objective is to teach children about the joy of Christ and how that joy will help them to become future worldchangers and peacemakers. A culture of excellence, along with daily Bible lessons, chapel programs, and mission work help develop the God-given talents of each child.

Parents often have specific expectations when it comes to a private Christian education.

Faith Formation Many parents appreciate the high priority Christian schools take when intentionally developing children’s character. They especially desire spiritual development for their children. With that in mind, we use Summit Ministries, Building on the Rock series, which lays the groundwork for Biblical worldview education in kindergarten through fifth grade. By studying 20 Biblical principles, students “stop seeing the Bible as just a book of unique stories and start seeing Scripture as the litmus test for every idea they encounter.” Beginning in sixth grade students explore the meaning of Biblical worldview and secular worldview and how those views can affect our day-to-day life decisions.

Rigorous Academics Whether children are preparing for a four-year college, a technical college, military training, or the workforce, parents want them to think better, write better, lead better and solve problems better. Much of our curriculum is research-based, insuring that our students are getting the best possible material to prepare them for wherever God leads them.

Opportunity We give children an opportunity to be who God created them to be. Our small size, coupled with caring teachers and staff, allows us to know, understand, guide and love every child. Our resources such as art, music, physical education, Spanish, and technology, as well as extra-curricular activities such as Junior Beta Club and Elementary Science Olympiad are some of the ways ECA provides opportunities for students to find and develop their passions.

Community ECA is a loving place where students, families and staff care about each other. Community is God’s desire for us, and when we grow in our relationships with others, we’re growing in relationship with Him!

Our Story: The History of ECA

The story of Elizabethtown Christian Academy began in the early 1970s with a vision. Dr. Jerry Wallace dreamed of establishing a Christian school on the campus of Elizabethtown Baptist Church where children could grow academically while being nurtured in their faith. With prayer and the support of the congregation, Dr. Wallace established a Day School for 3- and 4-year-old students. For more than 45 years, the Day School served as a successful ministry of EBC.

In the early 2000s, the program expanded to include 2-year-old students, but the dream of a full Christian academy remained on hold for 41 years. Then, on April 16, 2011, a tornado swept across Bladen County, leaving the church’s educational building unusable. Out of the devastation came a new opportunity. As plans were made to rebuild, classrooms for kindergarten through second grade were created, renewing the vision for a Christian academy.

Through the prayer, leadership, and support of the EBC pastor, church members, the community, and Dr. Ronald Montgomery, Elizabethtown Christian Academy officially opened its doors in 2012.

Since then, ECA has continued to grow. The school expanded its academic programs through the years, established an award-winning Beta Club in 2016 and a district-winning elementary Science Olympiad team in 2017, and later expanded athletics with girls volleyball and basketball in 2022 and co-ed soccer in 2024.

Today, Elizabethtown Christian Academy serves students from Pre-K through High School, with its high school program offered in affiliation with Liberty University Online Academy. What began as a small Day School ministry has grown into a Christian academy dedicated to educating students academically and spiritually.

In 2026, ECA entered an exciting new chapter in its history. With continued growth and expansion, the school officially purchased and completely renovated its own school building at 2605 W. Broad Street in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. ECA then moved into its new campus, creating a place for students, teachers, and families to continue building upon the vision that began more than five decades earlier.

From a small Day School born out of a dream in the 1970s to a growing Pre-K through High School academy with its own campus, ECA’s story is one of faith, perseverance, growth, and God’s provision. As we honor where we began, we look forward with excitement to all that is still to come.

Where Joy & Learning for a Lifetime Begins

Since 2012, Elizabethtown Christian Academy has been building a school of excellence in independent Christian education. We offer engaging learning experiences to students beginning with our 2-year-old day school class and continuing through 8th grade. We take pride in being able to offer a compelling combination of strong spiritual values, small classes, caring faculty, and academic rigor.

Elizabethtown Christian Academy is a loving community that builds a solid foundation in education centered on Biblical truth. Our Christian faith strengthens us in every aspect of life spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially.

Philosophy of Education

Elizabethtown Christian Academy has developed these statements of belief to direct our policies and the administration of these policies.

The Purpose of Education

The purpose of education is to know God and respond to His Word (Proverbs 1:7). When students are rightly related to God through a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and as they learn His Word, they can view the world from a biblical perspective and apply biblical truth to all areas of learning and life.

The Content of Education

The God of the Bible is the Source of Truth (John 14:6). In addition to academic knowledge and skills, education is concerned with the spiritual development of students. Instruction in biblical morality and the diligent pursuit of a Christ-like character must be part of a complete education.

The Process of Education

Education is accomplished through a professional competent Christian teacher using instructional methods that are appropriate for the content and development level of the student. A variety of methods may be used to teach the content and enable students to think critically. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Proverbs 22:6)

The Responsibility of Education

The education of children and youth is the primary responsibility of parents (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). Teachers partner with families by providing academic instruction and by serving as Christian role models.
